Wells Moat Boat Race 2011
On Monday 29th August, (this Bank Holiday Monday), the annual Wells Moat Boat Race took place.
This is the 10th year that the City of Wells Lions and the 1955 (City of Wells) Air Training Corp have worked together to organise the Wells Moat Boat Race event, with homemade rafts racing on the moat!
The event was compered by GFM's very own Allan Trinder.
In the adjacent park there was a fete with a large selection of stalls & music was performed on the bandstand featuring such diverse acts as The Congresbury Brass Band, the Mendip Drummers and Choirworks (a local ladies choir project).
Mid-afternoon saw a flypast by a Spitfire, and the day ended with a mass hot air balloon launch.
